Who are your people?

This traditional question was answered by generations of Southern Belles by their monogram. The twisting turn of a three letters with a signature color made a statement, and it was proof positive of a refined lineage. Today, monograms are not just limited to the South and the popularity of this creative form of identity can be found on linens, glassware, hand bags, cosmetic cases, etc. Here are some things to consider when you are trying to create a monogram that will be a tasteful and gracious reflection of you and your lifestyle:

1. Invest in quality. A set of monogrammed linen napkins will be on your table for many years, hopefully, generations. You can buy in increments and build your linen chest gradually. Buy a set of cocktail napkins this year, luncheon napkins the next and so on. Don’t be afraid of color! You can choose a signature color and monogram everything in that. For example, plum would look divine on white hem stitched napkins. Be bold and be brave.

2. Use appropriately. If you have a small house and want to use your monogram in the dining room, choose one chair instead of all eight. It will make a statement and not over whelm the room. Your monogram will be more distinctive if you use in moderation. Don’t forget glassware and tote bags and bath accessories. These items are often very utilitarian and the inclusion of your monogram could make them seem special.

3. Consider style. There are just as many monograms styles as there are initials! When choosing a style for your home, consider where it will be used. If you have a modern house, then an Old English type of style might seem jarring and out of place. Also, not all initials look good in all monogram styles. You might decide to just sue two letters. In addition, consider the surface. Monograms look completely different on terry cloth than they do on flat cotton.

4. Personalize your gift giving. In an age of “re-gifting” and gift cards and email coupons, who wouldn’t want a beautifully selected, monogrammed gift? This definitely falls under the “wouldn’t buy it for myself but would love to have it” category. Start now, by observing your friend’s taste and home furnishing and begin to plan for the holiday season.

They even were fascinated by our requests for Swine Flu cocktails...and helped us to create it!

Last, but certainly not least ,is that everything - well almost everything, is Pink and Green! And such wonderful shades of pink and green. And sometimes it is striped with pink and green and you can guess how much the queens of TheMonogramStore.com love stripes..and with pink and green...heaven!!
